Air Japan Minimum Qualifications as of December 2025
Please review the minimum qualifications below before applying. These criteria are non-negotiable and set by Air Japan's operational standards. We can only consider candidates who meet the listed prerequisites. Air Japan recruits on an ongoing basis; if you do not currently meet the qualifications, we encourage you to apply in the future when you are fully eligible.
AJX First Officer Minimum Requirements
ATPL: Valid ICAO State ATPL
Rating: Valid ICAO Jet Aircraft Type Rating with a Command Instrument
Medical Certificate: Valid ICAO Class 1
English: ICAO Level 4 or higher
Total Flight Time: More than 3,000 hours
Commercial Jet Time: More than 500 hours
Commercial Jet PIC Time: N/A
Multi-Engine Jet Aircraft: N/A
Total Pic/ PUS Time (JCAB Requirement) One of the following:
Total PIC more than 250 hours -or-
Total PUS more than 500 hours -or-
Total PIC/ PUS 180 hours + Total PIC 70 hours
Cross Country Time: More than 200 hours
Cross Country PIC/ PUS Time: More than 100 hours
Instrument Flight Time: More than 75 hours
Night Flight Time: More than 100 hours
AJX Direct-Entry Captain Minimum Requirements
ATPL: Valid ICAO State ATPL
Rating: Valid Jet AIrcraft Command Type Rating
Medical Certificate: Valid ICAO Class 1
English: ICAO Level 5 or higher
Total Flight Time: More than 6,000 hours
Commercial Jet Time: N/A
Commercial Jet PIC Time: More than 4,500 hours
Multi-Engine Jet Aircraft: In excess of 65,000kg MTOW
Total Pic/ PUS Time (JCAB Requirement) One of the following:
Total PIC more than 250 hours -or-
Total PUS more than 500 hours -or-
Total PIC/ PUS 180 hours + Total PIC 70 hours
Cross Country Time: More than 200 hours
Cross Country PIC/ PUS Time: More than 100 hours
Instrument Flight Time: More than 75 hours
Night Flight Time: More than 100 hours
